Time(less) 100

I was going through the one and only "Time" magazine's World's most influential people.

I wasn't totally impressed because it was so American centric. Moreover some of the so called "influential" people were so commercially influenced themselves.

Otherwise I liked the concept of influential people. We have to make the distinction between the "powerful" and the "influential".

These are people who have some way or the other influenced the ideologies or dreams or the day to day turn of events of people all over the world significantly by their voluntary measures.

Thats where the distinction of power comes in. We can understand that when we look at Obama at the 18th place of the 100.

The pride factor comes with AR Rahman being in the 59th place. I liked the write-up given by Padma Lakshmi of his music and his influence, but whats the link other than being an American NRI.

Its inspiring to know that Rahman found a place in the so called "Music" empire which is so often dominated by the pop singers of the mid-west or the teen stars who just did their first albums.

But When I think if all this happened only after "Slumdog", boy! that sounds insane. Yet, Better late than too-late.

Rahman made all of us Rahmaniacs proud with his scintillating music long back, But its heartening to know the World recognizes great talent though its late.

I wish there are more people from our country in this 100, hopefully We'll get there in the upcoming editions.
